On March 15, 2000, Carol DeLucia sent the following letter to Supervisor Paul Feiner, which she shared with Grassroots for Greenburgh.

Several items have come to mind recently and thought I would pass them along to you:

1.   As I was sitting at a traffic light on Knollwood Road (between Route 119 and Dobbs Ferry Road), I couldn't help but notice the abundance of garbage littering the wooded area across from the A&P shopping center. Wouldn't now be a good time to clean up this (and other) neglected areas around town? Before Spring arrives, it's so much easier to see the garbage and get it out of there. Waiting for your summer help to arrive is waiting too long.

2.   Have you recently driven onto the entrance to 287 (eastbound) opposite White Plains Bowling? What happened to the trees? My heart goes out to those poor people who live on the other side of the fence. Is the Town of Greenburgh making as much a fuss about this as they were about the Stew Leonard's access road? I certainly hope so.

3.   If Greenburgh has a law about cutting down trees or replacing the ones which are cut down, we are doing a poor job of enforcing that law. If we don't have one, isn't it time to put one on the books before the "Green" is no longer apparent in Greenburgh?

4.   When the trees at the train station were cut down for various reasons, couldn't we have just replaced them with evergreens which are appealing to the eye year round instead of trying to come up with something "nouveau"?

5.   Was it necessary to approve a convenience store at the Sunoco station on Central Avenue?

6.   As most Hartsdale residents know, Our Lady of Sikhora church created a traffic debacle on West Hartsdale Avenue last year. Exactly what type of traffic study does your Board need to convince you that adding a high school and two churches on Dobbs Ferry Road will infuse enough cars to make Dobbs Ferry Road and West Hartsdale Avenue a virtual parking lot on weekends?

Just some thoughts from a resident who has lived in this town long enough to know what was and sees what is now. The Hartsdale I knew is disappearing.

As a footnote, Ms. DeLucia adds:

"His response was that he would send someone to check it out. After eight weeks, I wrote back asking for an update. Mr. Supervisor said he would look into the matter.

So much for writing letters."
