Subject: RE: false rumors
circulating about methadone clinics
Dear Paul:
Just once, try to deal with an issue
objectively rather than trying to put your usual personal "people are
out to get me" spin on things. The flyer
said that "as of right" legislation that would permit health
clinics, including methadone clinics, to open "as of right" on
Central and East Hartsdale Avenues as well as other areas, was on for a
public hearing and vote by the Town Board on August 17. That's not rumor,
it's fact!
Whether there is an application for a
methadone clinic on East Hartsdale Avenue or Central
Avenue today or next month is irrelevant because the "as of
right" legislation being proposed permits such clinics to move in
without Town review. Therefore, whether you support a methadone clinic on
Central Avenue or East Hartsdale Avenue makes no difference because in
supporting "as of right" legislation, you are allowing it.
Stop playing political games and blaming concerned civic
associations for pointing out the facts.
The "as of right" legislation was
your proposal -- you made it one of your 2005 goals -- and the July
6 Journal News reported you saying that anyone who criticized it was
simply trying to stop the health center. If that isn't support for
"as of right" legislation, then what is?
Let's see if you have the guts to
circulate the truth to your gb list. If not, I'm willing to send out
another flyer.
