| COUNCIL OF GREENBURGH CIVIC ASSOCIATIONS
May 24, 2000
Louis R. Tomson, Chairman
New York State Thruway Authority
200 Southern Boulevard
Post Office Box 189
Albany, New York 12201-0189
Dear Mr. Tomson:
The Council of Greenburgh Civic
Associations (CGCA) is pleased to support the Secor Homes Civic
Association, Inc. (SHCA) in its vigorous opposition to the proposed
northbound Thruway exit ramp at Secor Road in Hartsdale, New York.
We fully endorse the concerns expressed by SHCA in its April 20, 2000
letter to you.
The CGCA represents 34 civic associations
in Greenburgh and understands too well the potential this proposal
has to devastate the residential character of a neighborhood.
Although we are aware that the Thruway
Authority has indicated it would take SHCA’s concerns under
consideration, and, in fact, stated that it was sensitive to those
concerns, we felt it was important to underscore the broad civic
association support for SHCA’s position.
CGCA stands ready to assist SHCA in
providing whatever documentation the Thruway Authority might require to
demonstrate the highly deleterious impact such a ramp would have on the
Secor Homes neighborhood.
We trust that the Thruway Authority will
abide by the community’s wishes as it undertakes the needs assessment
study for the Ardsley/Yonkers/Greenburgh areas.
Sincerely,
/signed/
Danny Gold
