GRASSROOTS FOR GREENBURGH
P.O. Box 877, Elmsford, NY 10523
CANDIDATES' DEBATES--UPDATE
October 12, 1999
GfG has just learned that a second debate between the candidates for
Town Supervisor, Paul Feiner, Democrat, and William Pohlmann, Republican, will also be broadcast on Greenburgh's cable TV access
station, channel 16, on Thursday, Oct 14th, at 7:30 pm.
The show is hosted by David Glenn, Greenburgh editor for The Scarsdale
Inquirer. The program is being aired at the same time as the debates scheduled by the League of Women Voters (see GfG
Update of October 11th.)
This unfortunate conflict in scheduling by the Town means that residents have to choose which program to watch; when, in fact, our
taxpayer citizens should be given every opportunity to hear the candidates who wish to govern our Town. The programming schedule
of the entire cable access station will be the subject of future GfG reporting as we believe that open government requires that the public
access airways be free of any impediment to the free flow of important community information.
Meanwhile, GfG advises the following:
1. Attend the open debate of all the candidates for office on Thursday, October 14th, at 7:30 pm at the Greenburgh Town
Hall. This debate is sponsored by the League of Women Voters, a
non-partisan organization.
2. If you cannot attend the debate, watch the debate on Channel 14, on the Greenburgh TV access station, starting at 7:30 pm.
3. Watch the REBROADCAST of the Town Supervisor debate hosted by David Glenn on his show
The Greenburgh Beat on Thursday, October 21st at 7:30 pm. on Channel 16. David also
anticipates that the show will air a third time on Thursday, October 28th, at 7:30 pm. However, the scheduling is not under community
control so one cannot predict the actual programming.
GfG will endeavor to keep you informed of any time changes or additional airing of these election debates.
