SECOR HOMES CIVIC ASSOCIATION, INC. (SHCA) SHCA ALERT FOR RESIDENTS OF JEAN, JENNIFER AND BARBARA LANES October 22, 1999 You will recall that after the Secor Homes Civic Association, Inc. alerted the Town of Greenburgh to an illegal soil and gravel business operating at the end of Jennifer Lane, the Town took the operators to court and closed down the business. Recently, however, our neighbors have been noticing big piles of fill and soil being brought in and stored on the site. SHCA was advised and notified the Town. The police and the building inspector visited the site. A violation was issued by the building department and pictures of the fill and the flatbed trucks were taken. Additionally, the Town Attorney was notified as this may be a violation of the stipulation agreed to by the court. Storage of fill on residential property without a permit by the engineering department is a violation of the zoning code. Therefore, the Town has asked SHCA to "monitor" the situation and advise them of any further activity. As we take our daily exercise, SHCA would appreciate if you would let us know of any observations you make regarding this matter. Also, please advise your neighbors so they, too, can keep a watchful eye... It is critical for homeowners to assure that the character of their neighborhood and property values remain secure. Any intrusion by illegal commercial endeavors will therefore affect our neighborhood negatively. |
